Redline Comparison for Standards

Modified on Tue, 27 May at 7:58 AM

Nimonik has implemented a new redline comparison feature which allows users to more easily compare changes between different versions of Standards.

Where to Access the Redline Comparison Tool:

The redline comparison tool can be accessed by clicking the "View PDF" button located on the Standards' Document Page. To learn how to navigate to this page, please follow this guide.

On the subsequent page, in the top left side of the screen, click on any of the options under "Compare to" to activate the redline tool.

Once activated, the PDF will reload and display your chosen versions. The version you selected under "Compare to" will always appear on the right.

In the below example, the current version is displayed on the left and the superseded version is displayed on the right.

Please note, the redline tool is not available for all Standards or Publishers. It is also not possible to download the redline comparison of two Standards.

To end the redline comparison, click the "Stop Comparison" button in the top right corner of the screen.

Colour coding system for the Redline comparison feature:

Light Purple bubbles - Shows the equivalent parts of the document

In the above example, you can see the paragraph beginning with "Products that have..." connects to this equivalent section of the document. Sometimes, these line up nicely, but other times your team will need to follow the light purple bubble to the corresponding section.

Red/Dark Purple - Shows which parts have been added to the newer version, and which parts have been removed from the previous version (Insertions/deletions)

In the above example, "NOTE" and "-1 and 17664-2" were added to this paragraph in the newer version.

In the above example, the "2014" shown on the older version was removed for the newer version.

Yellow - Parts that were directly modified between versions

In the above example, you can see the standards which healthcare facilities are encouraged to review have been directly modified. The older version suggested ST35, TIR30, while the newer version has updated those to be ST79, ANSI/AAMI ST98.
